Welcome to the Australian chapter of The Niner Empire Sites. It is a privilege and an honor to be the founder of the Australian Niner Empire, and a member of the greatest fan base in the world, the Niner Empire!
A little bit of history, I was born and raised in Melbourne Australia and have never been to the US but I have been a 49ers fan for as long as I can remember.
When I was about four years old my parents went to the US and stayed with family friends who are SF locals. My dad went to a few Giants games at Candlestick park, this was about 1977, and he fell in love with the place! When they got home he told me all about the Stick and what a fantastic place it was. From that time on I started to watch Baseball and Football whenever I had the chance. Needless to say I was a 49ers fan from the day my dad told me about them, I'm very happy he told me about the Niners and not Chokeland! My love for the Forty Niners never wavered from that time on. We were lucky growing up that they showed a bit of football on late night tv and always showed the Super bowl live so I got to see enough football to keep me hooked! After a few years they started replaying a game a week and high lights of the other games from that week.
When I was fifteen I found out that there was a reasonably well established league in Melbourne at which point I decided that I was going to play football! I found a team near me, went to the first day of preseason training where I had to get my dad to sign a waiver as there was no junior league. Its fair to say that I got pretty beat up in that first season, but it only made my obsession with the game stronger!
So that's a brief history of an Australians love of American football and the Forty Niners.
I hope to grow this Australian chapter and look forward to connecting with all of you Niner Faithful.
